Setup Steps

Connect WhatsApp via WhapAround

First, sign up for a WhapAround account and follow their instructions to connect your WhatsApp number. This will provide you with a unique webhook URL to use in the next step.

Configure the Webhook Trigger

Copy the webhook URL from your WhapAround dashboard and paste it into the 'WhapAround - Listeing' Webhook node in this n8n workflow. This allows n8n to receive incoming messages securely.

Set Up the Knowledge Base

Locate the 'company's knowledge' Google Docs node. Replace the placeholder Document ID in the parameters with the ID of your own Google Doc. Ensure your n8n Google credentials have permission to read this file.

Configure the AI Model

Select your preferred AI provider node, such as 'Google Gemini Chat Model'. Add your API key in the credentials section. You can also adjust the model parameters and the system prompt in the 'AI Agent' node to fit your brand's tone of voice.

Set Up Conversation Logging

Authenticate the 'Google Sheets' node with your Google account. In the node's parameters, select the target Spreadsheet and Sheet where you want to log conversations, then map the data fields like timestamp, user question, and AI answer.

This workflow includes a '24-hour window check' because WhatsApp policy only allows businesses to reply to user-initiated messages within 24 hours. You can customize the 'WhapAround - Respond Template' node to handle out-of-window messages gracefully.

Fine-tune the 'cleanAnswer' Code node to further sanitize the AI's output. You can add more text replacement rules to remove unwanted phrases or format the text to perfectly match your brand's communication style.

Utilize the 'Simple Memory' node to provide conversational context. This allows the AI to remember previous messages in the same conversation, leading to more natural and helpful follow-up responses.
